District 3 Rally Recap
May 13-15, 2016
Wayne County Fairgrounds
Wooster, OH
The 36th District 3 Rally was well attended with 25 units, including ten first-timers! Games were played indoors because of the temperature and soggy ground (and we saw snowflakes on Sunday morning!).
Friday night began with a Hot Dog Roast, hosted by Terry & Marty Hart, District 3 Reps from Michigan. Jeff Nault, from their chapter, helped cook and serve.
Following the roast, Bob & Darlene Workinger, District 3 Representatives, hosted a series of “Anything Goes” games. These games, with 4 team members, are designed for folks to get acquainted with each other, and it worked! The 1st Place team was: "Pete's Fan Club", consisting of Jeff and Colleen Nault (MI Chapter #145 Wing Knutz) and Bob and Naomi Hamlin (COA from OH)
Saturday morning breakfast was prepared by Joe and Gale Duggins, District 3 Reps from Kentucky. They were assisted by Jim Whitehouse and Jamie Clark, two of their chapter members.
The morning game, Washer Toss (doubles), found stiff competition among the players. Playing to "21 exact" during elimination rounds was tough and some found themselves reversing direction when going over 21. Due to this, the game lasted over three hours before winners were determined!
Bean Bag Toss (doubles) was played after lunch. As in Washer Toss, the scoring was "21". This game had its share of folks falling backward when they exceeded 21, as well.
Saturday night dinner was prepared by Jim and Jeanne Hlas and was delicious. It consisted of breaded pork chops, baked potatoes, green beans, corn, salad, bread and butter. Bob and Darlene Workinger helped in the kitchen, as well as Jeanineie Beatty (visiting for the day). Dessert was served later.
After dinner folks moved to a smaller, heated building for awards, door prize distribution, and dessert.
The District 3 officers were introduced by Bob and Darlene Workinger: Joe & Gale Duggins (Vice President) and Terry & Marty Hart (Treasurer & Secretary), as well as themselves (President).
Special recognition was given to Bob & Darlene Workinger, who have attended all 36 District 3 Rallies!
Door prizes were then given out, followed by the game winners.

Becky Brittingham invited folks to attend the Ohio State Rally, August 19-21.
Joe Duggins mentioned the Kentucky State Rally, September 9-11.
Marty said the 2017 District 3 Rally will be May 19-21 at the Branch County Fairgrounds in Coldwater, MI.
A variety of delicious pies were then served, with an assortment of ice cream and toppings.
Sunday morning there was a non-denominational service led by Bob & Darlene Workinger. Darlene read a scripture and a variety of articles that gave everyone something to think about. Jeanne Hlas and Marty Hart assisted with a few readings. Bob gave a prayer for safe travels, good health for all, and God's blessings. Everyone gathered in a circle, held hands, and Darlene said a few words, ending with . . . "until we meet again".
